Antique Italian painting of the 17th century. Oil painting on canvas depicting religious subject St. Joseph and the Infant Jesus by an excellent painterly hand. Painting of exceptional size with wooden frame not contemporary, carved, lacquered and gilded with pleasant decoration. The work depicts the characters in St Joseph's workshop with Jesus reaching out to touch the nails (see photo), with clear reference to the symbols of his martyrdom. Painting enriched by a pleasant foreshortening at the top right (see photo). A painting that develops vertically, ideal to be placed in an important salon or study, with great visual impact. Work that has undergone a conservative restoration, re-tinting, replacement of the frame and restoration of the colour in several points (see photo). In good state of preservation with some signs of time. Light painting H 164 x W 106 cm.
