Item description

A series of three modular sideboards with a tall body with two doors and a teak wood veneer structure with black iron supports resting on wooden feet and joined by a curved wooden board. Particularly interesting are the door handles that develop horizontally and end with squared elements in black painted wood with concealed locks. The furniture draws an original and refined design characterised by clean and essential lines typical of the best productions of the 50's and hides unusual structural and design elements. Based on stylistic factors, the furniture could be created in the Cantù district during the 1950s. In particular, the design seems to be influenced by the creations produced for the international competition Selettiva del Mobile, which was held every two years between 1955 and 1975. The closest references are some pieces presented during the 1955 edition and chosen by that jury composed of Gio Ponti, Alvar Alto, Carlo de Carli and Finn Juhl. One can see for example the wall cupboard presented at the Selettiva of 17 September to 5 October 1955 by the Japanese designer Tachiro Nakai as this case, simple lines are combined with an organic and functional design that conceals elements of originality drawn from oriental culture. Dimensions of hexagonal table: height 80 x length 191 x depth at head of table 74 x depth at centre 89
