Item description
Antique Italian painting from the second half of the 17th century. Oil painting on canvas depicting a splendid Nativity scene where shepherds gather around the Holy Family in adoration. The painting's peculiarity is that it is a nocturne, the divine light of the infant Jesus seems to radiate all the characters in the composition, and in the top left-hand corner we glimpse the moon next to a host of cherubs piercing the sky. A religious painting that has undergone restoration with re-staining, replacement of the frame and repainting in places, overall in a good state of conservation.
