This fine view dates from the late 18th or early 19th century and was painted by a Venetian master. It depicts Piazza del Campidoglio animated by numerous figures and carriages in the foreground. In addition to the figures in the foreground is the famous staircase designed by Michelangelo Buonarroti that connects Piazza del Campidoglio with the square below. In the centre is the bronze equestrian statue of Marcus Aurelius.
