Scandinavian-style folding sofa by Sedláček & Vyčítal, 1960s
Folding sofa from the 1960s. This furniture was designed by Karel Vyčítal and Miloš Sedláček for Dřevotvar Jablonné nad Orlicí in the former Czechoslovakia. Miloš Sedláček and Karel Vyčítal were the leading post-war Czechoslovak architects who worked for the Czechoslovak firm Dřevotvar Jablonné nad Orlicí. Their work was obviously inspired by post-war Scandinavian design, from which they not only drew inspiration, but which they tried to modify in various ways. This piece of furniture is made of high-quality beech wood and polished with shellac. It is in original condition but very well preserved. It shows signs of age and use entirely appropriate for the era in which it was created. Length: 195 cm, height: 77 cm, depth: 88 cm, sleeping area: 117 x 195 cm.
