Italian painting from the first half of the 19th century. Work with a religious subject, oil on canvas, first canvas, of excellent pictorial quality and particular workmanship. The perception of space is distorted because the author created the scene using a convex mirror. The painting depicts the story of Jesus and the Samaritan woman at the well. Christ is traveling and approaching a well he asks a woman of Samaritan origins for a drink. For the Jews, the Samaritans were impure so they didn't speak to him, but Jesus doesn't worry about this and the woman reacts with amazement. Work that is part of a pendant (see photo and ask for the price of the pair, if available). Wooden frame with beautifully decorated carved and gilded elements. Two golden elements (right and bottom) with small defects (see photo). Work that shows some small signs of aging (see photo), in a beautiful patina, overall in a good state of conservation. Light painting D 69 cm.
