Item description

Oil on canvas. Northern European school, late 19th century. Unidentified signature at lower right. The portrait presents a child in a seafaring setting: he is sitting on a beach rock, on the seashore, dressed as a sailor and holding a small toy sailboat. The child is rather compact and serious. The painting has slight tears in the canvas and colour stains. It is presented in an imposing frame from the end of the 19th century, with several gaps and falls in the plaster decoration.
