Wood and gilded bronze pendulum mantel clock, early 19th century
Wood and gilded bronze pendulum mantel clock with elaborate mechanism equipped with automata, made in Austria in the early 19th century. Rectangular wooden support structure embellished at the base with a frieze with leaf motifs. Circular dial with supports in the shape of sirens made in the round in gilded wood. Circular dial with opening glass lid; white enamel outer disc with Arabic numerals; central part in gilded bronze with two automatons in the guise of winged cupids which, when the gold and quarters ring, start moving to simulate the forging of an arrow and its grinding. Bronze terminal modeled after a chariot of the time. Watch in perfect working order, complete with its winding key. Provenance: private collection, Vittorio Veneto (TV).
