Lacquered wood sculpture depicting the Blessing Child. The sculpture is in carved lacquered wood and hand painted with gold and silver leaf applications. The child's base is a spherical cloud decorated with silver leaf and he is in a blessing position, i.e. with his arms raised intent on making the gesture of the cross; his nudity is covered by a gold leaf cloth. The child is accompanied by a Certificate of Authenticity from the auction house where it was sold. The certificate attests that it is wood carved by an 18th century sculptor, so it can be placed in the 18th century. The statue is original in all its parts and has some defects, which is normal given the period of creation. The defects are all visible in the photos. The iconography of the Blessing Child emphasises the divinity and sacredness of Christ.
