Transparent frosted Murano glass ashtray with blue detail, 1960s. There are many types of glass created by the master craftsmen of the Venetian island of Murano; from air-thin vases to expressive sculptures, even solid objects with deep and vivid colour tones represent the great skill of the glassmakers. The present bowl/ashtray, designed in the style of some of Carlo Scarpa's creations, is a perfect example of how attractive Murano solid glass can be. Made of frosted transparent ("crystal") glass, it features a square hole originally intended as an ashtray, highlighted by a bright electric blue touch. It can be dated to approximately the mid-1960s, based on the style and colours. Unsigned, like most pieces of that era, it shows great craftsmanship and is in excellent condition. No cracks, dents or damage of any kind are visible and only a slight patina shows that this is a 50-year-old object.
