Large Italian mythological painting signed and dated 1910. First oil on canvas work depicting a female nude with a mythological subject, Andromeda chained, with an excellent painting hand. A painting of considerable size and impact that develops vertically, adorned with a beautifully decorated carved and gilded wooden frame. Elegant and sensual is the woman chained to the rock who, according to mythology, was given as a sacrifice to a sea monster to atone for the sins of her mother. Also according to mythology, Andromeda was later rescued by the hero Perseus riding his winged horse Pegasus. Work signed and dated lower left M.
