Large Flemish painting from the first half of the 17th century. Oil-on-canvas work depicting a splendid crucifixion, attributable to the workshop of the celebrated painter Antoon Van Dyck (1599-1641); a pupil and friend of Rubens, he was an excellent portrait painter and became the first court painter for King Charles I of England. Painting of remarkable pictorial quality found particularly in the realization of Christ's complexion and the dramatic rendering of the atmosphere. Scenic 20th-century frame in carved and gilded wood, highly decorative. Work that has been restretched and has undergone restoration with frame replacement and color restoration in some small places.
