Item description

Large Flemish painting from the first half of the 17th century. Oil-on-canvas work depicting a splendid crucifixion, attributable to the workshop of the celebrated painter Antoon Van Dyck (1599-1641); a pupil and friend of Rubens, he was an excellent portrait painter and became the first court painter for King Charles I of England. Painting of remarkable pictorial quality found particularly in the realization of Christ's complexion and the dramatic rendering of the atmosphere. Scenic 20th-century frame in carved and gilded wood, highly decorative. Work that has been restretched and has undergone restoration with frame replacement and color restoration in some small places. Overall in excellent state of preservation. Size without frame: 132 x 95 cm.
