Oil on canvas. Signed and dated lower right. A large mountainous landscape foreshortening is depicted, certainly alpine, in which figures of shepherds walk along the path with their beasts. Annibale Scaroni devoted himself to portraiture and landscape painting, favouring views of the surroundings of Bormio, places dear to him. Scaroni maintained his own style of painting, detached from the artistic currents that were developing in the century; in his work, the vivid colours and the play of light and shadow, rendered with broad, decisive brushstrokes, stand out.
