Large polychrome majolica crater vase with snake-shaped handles. Historiated decoration with mythological subject: \"The Rape of Proserpina\", also depicting Lake Pergusa where according to Greek mythology Pluto abducted Proserpina in the presence of her mother Ceres. Also depicted is the chariot with which Pluto took Proserpina to the underworld as his wife.
