French school of the second half of the 17th century. Oil on canvas work of notable pictorial quality depicting the rest during the flight into Egypt. In fact, the biblical episode tells us that to escape Herod's violence and the massacre of the innocents, Mary, Joseph and baby Jesus flee to Egypt. In this particular and very original composition the Holy Family and Saint John are depicted in a moment of carefreeness. Jesus and the Baptist appear to be playing with the little lamb while Mary intervenes just as a loving young mother would. The entire scene is set in a lush landscape which gives depth to the painting. A painting of great pictorial quality, particularly noteworthy is the attention to detail and the executive technique in creating the drapery of the Madonna's robe. 20th century frame in carved and painted wood, beautifully decorated. Work already restored with relining, replacement of the frame and color recovery in small spots. Overall in good state of conservation. Painting light H 91 x W 75 cm
