Missoni composition Jute (also spelled jute,[1] corcoro or Calcutta hemp due to its similarity to hemp despite not having the same smell) is a natural textile fiber obtained from plants of the Corchorus genus, included in the Malvaceae family. As with flax and hemp, the textile material for production is obtained from the stem of the plant which can reach 4 meters. Approximately 85% of world jute production is concentrated in the Ganges delta: the main producing countries are therefore Bangladesh and India, and to a lesser extent China, Thailand, Burma, Pakistan, Nepal and Bhutan. Jute is highly hygroscopic, white, yellowish or brown in colour. The fibers are rough and tenacious and the yarn is also rough, stiff and very resistant. Jute can be crocheted alone or mixed with other yarns to make various objects, such as bags, belts, hats or rugs. Indian Jute is the most valuable quality in the textile world, its lint is composed of filaments approximately 2 - 3 meters long with fibers of 2 - 5 mm. The lighter the color the higher the quality, vice versa the browner the color the worse the quality. Many garments are made of polyester cotton, which turns out to be one of the most used fabrics for workwear. This is because it is a fabric that has numerous advantages and is often preferred to 100% cotton or 100% polyester. Polyester is a synthetic fiber derived from petroleum and its use in clothing dates back to around 70 years ago, when it was first used by the English brand Terylene. But what makes polyester preferable to other fibers in work clothing (even if there are few garments made of 100% polyester) is its resistance to abrasion and cuts, its waterproofness and, as we have already said, it can also become good breathable. Furthermore, polyester garments offer good thermal insulation and dry quickly. Cotton doesn't need much introduction, it is the most used natural fiber in the world and used to make clothing and various fabrics. Among the advantages of this fiber is its extraordinary ability to absorb water, which makes it a perfect material for absorbing sweat from the skin. Cotton is also hypoallergenic, disperses body heat (so in winter you feel less cold and less hot in summer), does not develop bad odors, if of good quality it also has excellent resistance and does not burn in contact with occasional sparks. This is why cotton is widely used for underwear, towels and sheets and less so in technical clothing. This does not mean that it does not have disadvantages, on the contrary, even this fiber is not perfect: it is not a strong thermal insulator, it creases easily, especially in contact with water and, usually without adequate treatment it tends to shrink after the first wash. Wool is a natural textile fiber obtained from the fleece of sheep (sheep and some types of goats), rabbits, camelids (camels, llamas, vicuñas, alpacas,...) and minor productions from dogs (chiengora), yaks and Tibetan antelope (Shahtoosh). The wool obtained is called virgin wool.
