Item description

Impressive figurative sculpture in biscuit white porcelain, depicting Venus with Cupid (Love) in an elegant allegorical scene of classical composition. The work is finely modeled, with richly flowing drapery, delicate facial features, and a decorative pedestal adorned with garlands, characteristic of 19th-century French academic taste. The base clearly bears the inscription "CARRIER-BELLEUSE", and the lower part has an impressed mark and further punched/pressed marks, which confirm the attribution of the marked model. Highly decorative and collectible, this sculpture is suitable for classic interiors, cabinet of curiosities or formal display in a salon. Provenance: formerly in a private European collection; purchased on the antiques market in Vienna (Austria). The object has been in Europe for several decades.
