Item description

Original signed oil on canvas, a fundamental work of the French romantic master and important precursor of impressionism. Exquisite impasto texture, radiant palette of golds, reds, greens and blues, luminous atmosphere capturing two elegantly dressed ladies in animated conversation within a verdant park: swirling foliage, dappled light, poetic movement. Clearly signed lower right: (authentic signature corresponding to the examples documented on askART, MutualArt and in the main auction registers). Monticelli directly inspired Cézanne (joined plein air painting in Provence) and deeply influenced Vincent van Gogh, who embraced his thick impasto, bright colors and expressive freedom – van Gogh saw himself as Monticelli's artistic heir. Official expert appraisal certificate included: issued by Janez Mesesnel, esteemed specialist in old master paintings from Ljubljana (Vogošina 4, Ljubljana), dated 23 January 2015: confirming full attribution to Adolphe Monticelli. Good condition, bright original pigments. Exceptional opportunity to acquire a signed and certified Monticelli, a bridge between Romanticism and Impressionism. Estimated market value (2015): €18,000 - described as "of great value" and "a work for true connoisseurs!". Note: The previous owner's first and last name have been covered on the certificate to protect personal data.
