Fascinating find of maritime archaeology, this double sheave block represents the perfect synthesis between functional engineering and aesthetic charm of times gone by. Made of high-density solid wood, the object retains the structural integrity of its original function, enriched by a deep natural patina that only decades of exposure to salt water and port use can confer. Originating from the historic port area of Rotterdam, this piece stands out for its imposing weight (over 2.5 kg) and the robustness of the wrought iron hook. The wood finish, characterized by cracks and signs of aging consistent with its history, has been preserved to enhance its authentic and "lived-in" character.
