The Model 71s designed by Henning Kjærnulf have a very different presence than many Danish chairs of the same period. The all-wood backrest lets the work on the structure emerge more forcefully, highlighting the design of the lines and the way the teak is shaped through soft fittings and very precise proportions.
The padded seat instead introduces a warmer, more tactile component. Cognac-colored suede fabric creates a natural contrast with teak, adding depth without weighing down the structure. The combination of wood and upholstery gives the chairs a collected and domestic character.
When viewed together around a table, Model 71s maintain strong visual coherence while avoiding rigidity or excessive formality. The compact proportions and lightness of the backrest allow the set to fit easily even in more essential contemporary environments.
An original vintage set that retains all the artisanal quality and design sensitivity of the best Scandinavian design of the second half of the twentieth century.
