French Napoleon III mahogany and bronze desk, 19th century
Item description
French Napoleon III desk in mahogany with gilded bronze applications. The front is characterised by three large drawers with oak interiors embellished with finely chiselled gilt bronze vents and friezes. The leather top is embellished with traditionally chiselled 24kt gold. The other side is mirrored to the main one with the peculiarity of having friezes depicting winged griffins. The truncated cone feet are enriched by the presence of a ribbon band and a skilfully chiselled gilt bronze slipper. Condition: Restored by our master craftsmen using traditional methods (handmade shellac and alcohol). Provenance: 19th century France. Document: Certificate of Authenticity.
