Antique oil painting on canvas depicting Saint Joseph with Child. The painting is a great innovation: Joseph is portrayed alone with the baby Jesus in his arms. Such a representation was reserved for Mary. In the history of art he was usually portrayed as an old man (as is also the case in this work), in order to remove any suspicion that he was involved in the procreation of the child. For this reason he was almost always physically detached from Mary. The importance and quality of this splendid work is so evident that it will satisfy even the most experienced and demanding collector. Great expressive power and emotion but also balance and tenderness come together in this pictorially perfect scene. Our canvas is completely identical both in the full-bodied brushstrokes and in the colouring, it is in perfect condition and above all in first canvas.
