Antique Italian painting from the 17th century. Oil painting on canvas depicting religious subject 'Apparition of the Virgin and Child to Saint Hyacinth' by an excellent painterly hand. Exceptionally large painting adorned with finely carved and gilded wood and plaster frame from the 20th century. The Polish saint, a member of the Order of Preaching Friars, receives a vision of Our Lady who grants him her intercession with her son. A work of great character, for antique dealers, interior decorators and collectors of antique sacred art, ideal for inclusion in an important salon or study. Painting that has undergone conservative restoration, re-staining, frame replacement and colour restoration in several places (see photo). It has two small colour fades in the upper border (see photo), overall in good state of preservation. Light painting H 147 x W 117 cm.
