Item description

Antique Italian painting from the 17th century. Oil painting on canvas depicting religious subject, Ecce Homo, of good painterly hand. Painting adorned with a splendid 20th century wood and plaster frame, carved, lacquered and gilded with relief decorations of excellent quality. Painting of great size and character, ideal for inclusion in a salon or study, for antique dealers and collectors of antique sacred art. Work depicting Christ wearing a red cloak, bound and crowned with thorns on a dark background. Painting that has undergone intensive conservation restoration, re-staining, frame replacement and colour repainting in several places (see photo). In good condition with several signs of restoration. Light painting H 87 x W 66 cm.
