Large Italian painting from the 17th century. Oil on canvas painting depicting sacred art subject, the flagellation of Jesus at the column, for antique dealers and collectors of high period religious painting. Painting with an excellent painterly hand and great character, the quality of the complexion and the colours of the robes are remarkable. 20th century carved and lacquered wooden frame, with some colour fading and signs of time (see photo). Painting that has undergone conservation restoration and re-staining during the 20th century, shows some minor colour fading, given the age in overall good state of preservation.
