Carlo Nason

Born in Murano in 1935, Carlo Nason makes glass combining the techniques of fine craftsmanship with innovative design. Member of one of the oldest glassmaking families in Murano, from an early age he absorbed the teachings of the master glassworkers at Vincenzo Nason & Co., founded by his father, realising the potential of glass applied to functional objects. Some of his first pieces, produced while working in the family business in the '60s, are kept in the Corning Museum of Glass and the MoMa; other international museums include his works in their collections. From 1965 to the present he has been collaborating with prestigious glassmakers in Murano, such as A.V. Mazzega, Vistosi, Carlo Moretti, Livio Seguso, De Majo, then with Gruppo Firme Di Vetro and Leucos, both based in Salzano.
