Description: The work represented in the photo is a painting in oil on canvas, of Baroque style, probably datable between the end of the seventeenth and the beginning of the eighteenth century, very common in the Flemish and Italian painting of the period.
The painting has a rich floral and fructal composition, typical of baroque death, with a prevalence of flowers such as roses, peonies, tulips and hydrangeas, arranged in a semicircular and symmetrical form that frames the central scene. In the lower part there are several fruits: white and red grapes, cherries, figs, apples, apricots, and tomatoes, painted with great attention to detail and material realism.
At the center of the composition, in a dark niche, a small figure of the Madonna and Child is confronted, an iconographic element sacred that contrasts with the profane abundance of the dead nature around. This devotional insert could indicate a spiritual symbolism: life (fruits and flowers) that surrounds salvation (the Madonna and Child).
The use of chiaroscuro is marked, with a dark background that highlights the warm and bright colors of flowers and fruits.
The material rendering of the subjects, especially of the fruits, demonstrates an expert hand and an interest in naturalism.
