Bruce Onobrakpeya is a Nigerian artist who led an artistic movement in his country rooted in African aesthetic traditions. He has created high-relief prints, bronzes, drawings, paintings, and installations influenced by the decorative arts, philosophy, and history of West Africa. The work presented here features a \"Minstrel\" a Nigerian figure of singer, musician, and itinerant actor, who was part of the oral and social tradition, creating art based on social events and serving as a social critic. The minstrel is depicted here on the back of a large bovine, on which he carries all his artistic equipment. The work is presented in a frame.
