Louis XVI veneered wooden writing desk, 19th century
Piano: The salient feature is the magnificent inlaid piano. It features a sunburst or "herringbone" design (bone pattern) in a single essence radiating from a central medallion. Central Medallion: The inlaid oval is finely decorated with a floral motif in light and dark essences, framed by contrasting threads. Underfloor fascia: The front fascia features a drawer and a sliding pull top. Inlays: The entire structure is enriched with elegant light and dark threads that outline the panels and drawers, a distinctive feature of Lombard cabinetmaking. Legs: Tapered and truncated pyramidal (with a square section that narrows towards the bottom), typical of the Louis XVI style. They are finished with brass clogs on the feet. Hardware: Bronze handles (knobs) and lock nozzle, consistent with the era.
