This painting depicts the Visitation, a biblical episode in which the Virgin Mary, pregnant with Jesus, visits her cousin Elizabeth, who is also pregnant with St. John the Baptist.

: Subject: The composition represents the meeting between the young Mary, wrapped in a halo of divine light, and the elderly Elizabeth. In the background you can see Saint Joseph and Saint Zechariah.
Style and provenance: Attributed to the Italian school, probably of central Italy, it dates back to the first half of the 18th century.
Artist: Although there are similar versions attributed to followers of the French artist Jean André (known as Friar André), this particular work belongs to the 18th-century Italian school.
Technique: Oil on canvas.
Antique wooden frame, not contemporary. In excellent condition, it has been rebodied according to tradition and is equipped with a wooden lamp. No particular pictorial restoration has been carried out. Canvas dimensions: 66.5 cm x 48.5 cm; Frame dimensions: 76.5 cm x 58.5 cm.
