SILVER Seller in Catania, Italia
Rare Italian wind vane from the early 1900s made of copper, with a three-dimensional structure and a subject depicting a running pig/piglet. The animal is represented with great expressive immediacy: the elongated snout, the raised ear, the sinuous body, the legs stretched forward and the typical curled tail contribute to creating a lively, ironic and highly decorative composition. Unlike more linear weather vanes, this example stands out for the almost sculptural rendering of the subject, which appears modeled in the round and suspended in a dynamic momentum. The lower part retains the directional axis with the letters of the cardinal points, while the copper surface has developed over time a natural patina in dark brown and oxidized green tones, much appreciated by collectors. An object of great charm, ideal as a decorative, architectural or collectible element. Measurements: 55 x 55 x 55 cm.
