SILVER Seller in Catania, Italia
Rare Italian wind vane from the early 1900s made of copper, with three-dimensional structure and original patina. The main subject depicts a lion modeled at full volume, placed in the upper part of the directional axis. The figure is represented in a proud position, with an elongated body, powerful legs, raised tail and long sculpted mane, giving the piece a heraldic, noble and scenographic character. Unlike common flat weathervanes, this example has a strong plastic and decorative quality, almost like an architectural sculpture. The bottom features the cardinal points letters N, E, S and W, decorative spheres and central support. The dark patina of the oxidized copper, in brown and burnished tones, enhances the age of the material and gives authenticity to the piece. Ideal as a collector's item or decorative element of great presence. Measurements: 65cm wide x 65cm deep x 103cm high.
