Rare wind vane from the early 1900s made of copper, characterized by a three-dimensional composition with a subject depicting a duck with open wings. The animal is represented in a dynamic movement, with the body inclined, the neck stretched forward and the wings raised, as in the moment of flight or landing. The backward legs and elongated tail help to give the figure a sense of momentum and lightness.
The rendering of the subject is decorative and almost sculptural, much richer than traditional flat weather vanes. The lower part retains the compass rose with the cardinal letters N, E, S, W, while the copper shows a natural antique patina, with burnished tones and light oxidations which confirm its period charm.
Ideal object for collectors of weathervanes, rural antiques and architectural decoration.
