The Gedser belongs to a lesser-known phase of IKEA production, preceding the brand's international diffusion. Made of teak between the 1950s and 1960s, it reflects that early Scandinavian aesthetic that combined domestic functionality, natural materials, and essential forms. The front is balanced between four drawers and two sliding doors, each featuring discreet recessed handles. Behind the doors is a large storage compartment with a shelf, while the wooden base and tapered legs lift the piece off the floor, lightening its presence. The teak, with its clearly visible grain, runs across the various surfaces, creating continuity and depth. At 157 cm wide and 49 cm deep, the Gedser is easily adaptable even in smaller spaces, without sacrificing ample storage capacity. It's also an interesting piece for its history: it dates back to the years when IKEA still offered products strongly tied to Scandinavian design, before the brand assumed the global dimension we know today.
