French Louis XVI style clock in gilded bronze and marble, 19th century
Antique Louis XVI style table clock made of finely chiselled gilt bronze and white statuary marble. The signed white porcelain dial with Roman numerals is supported by two obelisks surrounded by bronze columns. The upper part of the dial is enriched with the presence of an amphora while the part below is chiselled with a leaf motif. The base is richly adorned with a bronze plaque depicting an allegorical scene resting on four bronze bearing feet. Provenance: France, transitional period (1780/1820).
