French pendulum clock in marble and gilded bronze, 18th century
Important portico clock in white and black marble with mercury-gilt bronze applications. Structure with die-cut half columns in black marble with Corinthian capitals in gilded bronze placed against white marble uprights also enriched with phytomorphic friezes. Centrally located is the machine with a white porcelain dial adorned in the lower part by a frieze with a vegetal subject with a love knot and crowned above by an amphora from which floral waste emanates. The support base is mixed-line in shape with turned feet. The dial is signed Bourret a Paris. Noel Burret (1755-1803) was one of the most important Parisian clock makers active between 1790 and 1802, Original mechanism with wire suspension. France, late 18th century.
