Description: Ancient painting oil on canvas depicting San Giovanni Battista.
The painting depicts St. John the Baptist, sitting next to a candid lamb, his inevitable iconographic attribute, near a stream that flows water.
The young saint is half -popular with a red manta and holds the cross of rods on which the white cartouche will then be enveloped destined to welcome the inscription "Except Agnus of the except Tollis sins Mundi".
One of the most popular saints and most revered by the Christian faith, S.Giovanni Battista is considered the precursor of Christ, since once he grew up he devoted himself to an existence as a hermit in the desert, preaching the conversion and baptizing his disciples on the banks of the Jordan river, so much so that Jesus also went to him to receive baptism.
The work has a remarkable pictorial finesse with a perfect scenic construction, a particularly lively natural opening that immerses itself in a wooded landscape, so much so as to arouse the complete involvement by the viewer.
Analyzing the canvas, it shows a happy synthesis with the Tuscan tradition, both in the design and in plastic conformation and has a dense and throbbing chromatic palette. The colors are bright tones and this produces a wealth of light effects.
The painting is enclosed in a carved wooden frame with coeval relief leaves.
