Oil painting on canvas in the manner of Francois Boucher, 18th century
Description: Antique oil painting on canvas depicting "The Toilet of Venus" with a gilded and carved wooden frame coeval with the same. At the beginning of the 18th century, art in the Rococo style began in Paris. Delicate colors and sinuous lines animated the painting, making it extremely masterful. The concepts of love, nature, divinity and youth determined the complexity of the ornamental arts of this style. In the Toilet of Venus the mythological scene of the Goddess of Love is depicted. This painting depicts Venus sitting on a stage, with a natural background, surrounded by putti who admire her and play with jewels and ornaments that fall over the edge of the stage. This represented the concept of luxury that attracted wealthy buyers, because they were able to relate to the painting more than others. The pastel and soft colors make "La Toilette di Venere" overall harmonious and delicate, and also very detailed. The body of Venus and her cherubs is soft and playful. Conditions: Good condition. Ps: Small color defects. Provenance: 18th century France. Measurements: 190x145cm. Document: Certificate of Authenticity.
