Louis Vuitton Malle Courrier trunk, 20s
This Louis Vuitton trunk can be dated 1920/1925, a period when the quality of materials and workmanship historically reached one of the highest levels. This is a trunk commissioned to the Maison almost certainly by a jockey, who had his own travel suitcase personalized by having the symbol of the horseshoe printed on the sides, clearly visible in red. The personalization of the trunk is also evident by looking at the inside, where we find a shoe shelf divided into large compartments, suitable to store the jockey's boots. Externally, the trunk is lined with the Maison's iconic Monogram waxed canvas, created in 1896 by Georges Vuitton, son of Louis Vuitton. The finishes are in lousine, the details in gilded brass, the original locks. It has been perfectly restored to its original appearance.
