After an embryonic study phase started preliminarily, without achieving concrete results, in 1968, by Renzo Piano (Genoa, 1937) and Roberto Lucci (Milan, 1942), the project of the K seating system was taken up and redefined in detail up to the executive stage by Lucci himself and Paolo Orlandini (Grosseto, 1941). Conceived to solve the maximum number of applications with a minimum of equipment, even complex ones: chair, chair with armrests, chair with tablet, stackable, alignable, attachable, swivel chair, modular on beam, modular in canteen modules and classroom benches, the K range includes numerous accessories: from the bag holder net (file holder) to the ashtray, from the quick-fit armrest to the trolley for stacked chairs. Seats and backrests are available in curved plywood and padded, covered in imitation leather or fabric. At the time the final project was conceived - between 1970 and 1974 - the K seating system was one of the few examples of such a complex structure on the Italian market. (Cit. Tuscan Design Museum)
