Item description

Elegant hexagonal container with lid in fine Bunzlau stoneware ceramic (Bunzlauer Keramik), German Heise manufacture. The piece is decorated with the iconic "Peacock Eye" (Pfauenauge) motif, applied entirely by hand using the traditional sponging technique. Under the base there is the Heise brand in Fraktur font with a shielded monogram. The technical characteristics of the enamel and the presence of a small firing porosity inside the lid (air bubble typical of high temperature ovens of the time) are consistent with the artisanal production of the early post-war period (around 1948), a transition period for the Havelberg manufacture. Condition: Excellent, no chipping, smooth to the touch. Dimensions: Height 9 cm | Width 11cm (edge to edge). Price: €99.00 (negotiable)
