Glazed terracotta sculpture depicting "The Rape of Proserpina." The composition reproduces, on a smaller scale, Gian Lorenzo Bernini's famous marble work from 1622. In the 18th and 19th centuries, several sculptors drew inspiration from this model, reproducing it in various versions and materials: porcelain, biscuit, and bronze. Our group, faithful to the original model, depicts Pluto in the act of abducting Proserpina. Standing guard is the three-headed Cerberus dog. The sculpture has imperfections, but these flaws do not detract from its sculptural strength and aesthetic appeal.
