Oil on canvas. French school of the second half of the 19th century.
On the back there is a sealing wax stamp with the writing "Atelier Gustave Courbet".
The well-known author (1819 -1877) reproduced woodland scenes with deer and fawns several times, but the painting presented here cannot be attributed to him.
The work, of intense realism, presents a doe with her calf inside a clump of trees in the woods, with the light filtering through the branches to create luminous effects.
The painting is presented in a beautiful 18th century frame, lacquered and adapted.
