Oil on canvas. Central Italian school of the 17th century.
The image represents the Virgin with the Child Jesus sitting on her knees, and both have crowned heads. The Child is represented in the act of blessing the spectator, while holding a flower in his other hand.
The iconography of the Madonna with Child both crowned became widely spread only starting from the 16th century, although the theme of the Madonna on the throne was already widespread previously, as was her Coronation.
The painting has previously undergone restoration and relining.
It is presented in an 18th century wooden frame.
