Neapolitan sculpture of the Immaculate Madonna, 19th century
Neapolitan sculpture representing Our Lady Immaculate, also called Madonna di Don Placido. The sculpture has a terracotta head with crystal eyes and polychrome wooden hands and feet. The Virgin holds her Child on her left arm and both have their heads covered with a golden crown. The group rests on a globe flanked by two angels, while cherubs' heads are in the centre. The clothes, worn by time, are contemporary to the same. Provenance: Naples, early 19th century. Document: Certificate of Authenticity.
