Chiselled gilded bronze vase-shaped Empire clock, early 19th century
Finely chased gilt bronze Empire clock belonging to the early 19th century. The vase shape is typical of the period and features a large porcelain dial surrounded by relief elements. On the side it bears two handles depicting heads of mythological figures. The base has a quadrangular front and rests on circular bearing feet. The dial is made of porcelain and bears Roman numerals with a signature 'GOEMANS A ORLEANS' in the centre. Complete with key and pendulum and mechanism to be serviced. Provenance France (1820/30).
