Oil painting on canvas by Eduard Huber-Andorf depicting a scene in a tavern, 1929. Signed, dated and located (Munich) at lower left. German painter Eduard Huber-Andorf, best known for his still lifes, also tried his hand at tasty and realistic genre scenes. Here he offers precisely a humorous genre scene set in a tavern: a hunter, lounging on a bench with a mug of wine in his hand, entertains with amusing tales the other patrons-a couple, the prelate, an elderly man, and the hostess herself who stops to listen. It is presented in a mid-20th-century guilloché frame. Measures without frame: 81 x 121 cm.
