Item description

Wonderful four -door belief made in Italy in the seventies, probably on a specific design, a single piece and with artisan execution. Solid walnut wood structure, pierced black ash detail. The furniture stands out for the rigorous composition, the well -calibrated proportions and the quality of the processes, which place it in the context of the most refined measurement of the period. The structure is made of full wood and entirely covered in flamed walnut veneer, with vertical trend of the veins and shiny finish that enhances its depth and hot tone. The body of the mobile rests on a backward, almost invisible base, which visually lightens its volume, giving the illusion of a suspended top. This effect is further accentuated by the net line that separates the upper floor from the front, where a pierced element in black painted ash, with a regular reason is collected. This detail, rare in the Italian production of the time, performs both aesthetic and technical function: it introduces a graphic rhythm in contrast with the wooden surface, and recalls certain solutions typical of the Arts & Crafts movement, where craftsmanship combines with decorative research also in functional elements. The presence of the grid, the manual wood treatment and the absence of flashy handles or mechanisms ideally refer to the poetics of the Rivadossi carpentry shop, although the piece does not appear to belong to their official production, confirmation obtained following a comparison. The doors, perfectly aligned and without visual interruptions, open to the throat revealing a rationally divided internal compartment, designed for daily use but designed with a typical cure of a single piece. For constructive characteristics, quality of materials and formal solutions, this belief is to be considered a remarkable testimony of the high Italian crafts of the second half of the twentieth century, in a historical moment when the border between architecture, design and carpentry was increasingly subtle. The furniture is also extraordinary from behind and can be positioned in the center of a room or living room, with manual carpentry details such as the thorns that combine and keep the furniture together, typical detail of the high manufacture without screws of the best carpentries, like Rivadossi.
